The first edition of the Week Without Meat in Belgium will take place between 23 and 29 October 2023. It is an initiative of the Week Without Meat Foundation, a Dutch foundation created by Isabel Boerdam.
The aim of the foundation is to contribute to the challenging climate goals.
The group is convinced that current meat consumption is directly related to the excessive CO2 emissions our world suffers from, and - unlike sustainable solutions such as solar panels and electric cars - can be tackled without large investments and without concessions today.
Thanks to European support from the LIKE-A-PRO project, the foundation can fulfil its European ambitions and pilot the concept to other countries. In October 2023, Belgium will become the first country within the European Union (outside the Netherlands) to roll out the campaign.
Other countries will follow from 2024.
